About Me
i was doing really well in life and was a very very active person, i had finished nurse training and was doing a degree whilst working full time and learning how to ski. i am married to a wonderful man and have a lovely daughter both of whom are very supportive in all that i do and now that i am ill. in march 2006 i contracted an enterovirus which wiped me out completely for four weeks, i was to start a new job and didn't want to risk losing it so in april i began an induction. during the induction and up to july my symptoms developed more and more and i became very worried about my health, i kept most of my fears to myself as i didn't want to worry anyone. i was having investigations that were coming back normal and the gp and consultant where baffled. i went on holiday in july and on my return attempted to go into work, what a mistake that was, however it proved to me that i was unable to work with my illness. soon after i was diagnosed with cfs/me by another consultant who was knowledgeable on the illness and referred to a specialist clinic of two group sessions. these were helpful and i commenced pacing, however there is no follow up and i am now 'on my own' trying my best to pace and recover. i started pacing in january 2007 and my symptoms in that acute stage were still very bad and i was housebound. i started with a very basic baseline and standing for 5 secs and walking for 5 secs. now nine months later i can stand for 20 mins and walk for 20 mins and i can go out of the house alone...big achievement. i do still get bad days however, and more so when i don't control my activitiy and ensure that i have adequate rest periods. i find this illness very frustrating at times because of the limitations that it places upon me as i have always been very active, and the symptoms are horrendous at times. one good thing is that i have had the time and space to rediscover 'me' and live in the moment rather than rushing around like there is no tomorrow. i am hoping to recover from this illness and live in hope that one day i will. update 9/10/2007 i have recieved follow up unexpectadly from the cfs clinic that i attended for a two course group session back in april and july of this year. following a 40 min discussion on the telephone i felt reassured and motivated to carry on with my pacing safe in the knowledge that i have support if i need it and more follow up in january 2008. good news and at this time i am doing really well with my pacing and have commenced b12 which seems to be helping too.

Close Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
in march 2006 i contracted an enterovirus that lasted four weeks. i went back to work and carried on working thinking that like any other bout of illness i could 'work it off' but i was very wrong. i developed lots of symptoms and was very concerned. following a holiday i tried to return to work but unfortunately only lasted an hour and then had to accept that something was seriously wrong. i was diagnosed with cfs/me after lots of investigations and referred to a clinic.
