Tonight, my horse arranged the lesson plan. As we were trotting around a corner someone from the house next door used a nail gun and Sprite "spooked." I knew this day would happen sooner or later and the fear of being thrown has been with me on more than on occasion. No one was more suprised than me that my reaction was right on the mark... As she attempted to transition into a full run I leaned back and squeezed my knees to get her to stop ( I also had one of my trainers on the lead rope who pulled her back down as well). The triumph was the having the right reaction vs. getting her to stop... So a big 10% jump in progress!!! And... again I wasn't scared ... although I have to admit I was a little shaky after it was all said and done....

I don't ride but watch my daughter. It can be frightening. I have gone on trail rides but she jumps and I have no idea how.
