My oldest niece is getting married in June. After last June, seeing my family, I don't plan on going to the wedding. My brother didn't invite me to their graduaton dinner for my nephew because my father and his wife were there. I traveled over 700 miles, and I wasn't welcome at the dinner. Then my sister made me feel unwelcome because my father was coming to her house. And to top it off, my father and his wife didn't acknowledge me at the graduation. They sat right in front of me and pretended that I wasn't there. So hurtful. I was so upset.

So, I now that they will all be at the wedidng, and I'm not interested in going through the same experience as last year. I love my niece, and she knows that. I can use the fact that my son will be graduating from 8th grade at about the same time. It's a good  excuse, and I'll use it. They may know that it's an excuse, but that's okay. I don't know anyone who would do that to themselves again.
