chompy got adopted and allegedly bit the adopter Mood
Monday, June 29, 2009 | A Tragic story

kind of freaked out right now.  adopted out chompy, and as i was afraid of, he actually BIT her AND broke the skin.  she's never broke the skin before and the woman was bleeding a lot.  he also clawed her arm badly.  she blamed herself.  she took her out in the parking lot, which i never allow.  all was still calm, surprisingly and seemed to be very bonding.  her little son was lovely (it seems) i hope, and another surprise she has a 2 year old female cat as well, or says she does (i hope its not a dog).  she was with her mother who is on oxygen and it turns out she is a highschool teacher who isn't layed off.  all good. she blmes herself for what happened.  i offered to put chompy into the new carrier like i always do, but since she seemed so snuggly with her, she says to me no, i can do it, just follow me to the side of the car.  she has a honda crv.  she says as soon as i was out of view for chompy, the kitten bit her and start clawing and crying to go.  i walked over and let her see me and she stopped.  it was soooo weird.  then i look over and she is seriously BLEEDING.  this has never happened before in six years of rescue.  she was totally cool about it and says she expected adjustments, but i am still totally freaked out!  i hope she is okay.  i don't know what to think at all.  what if its worse tomorrow.  i wish people would just listen.  i told her to start chompy in the bathroom and let her adapt and smell the other animal under the door etc., and she'll know when she is ready.  she says she expects it to take a couple of weeks.  i had no idea chompy was that attached.  her tongue was sticking out and her eyes were dialated and all that.  soooo freaky.  this is the only house she knows and i guess that is a lot of the reason, though chompy has been "different" the whole time.  that is why i thought it was a good match.  everything she said she wanted, playful and attacks like her former cat who just died did, that kind of thing.  really don't know what to think, but chompy had all the same attributes and i was like, you know this may be it, as i held chompy back because i felt her playing was too rough, but it sounded like her cat was worse.  it beats all, it really does.  they always act different than expected.  i told her it can come back anytime, but its just weird and makes me feel bad.

Some kats become very attached to their people. You are such a good animal person.

Chompy just got a bit more attached to you. I am sure all will work out just fine...Don't worry...Sounds like the new Mom stood her ground well and loves the Kitten. Hang in there. Have a great day. Hugs with Love

Right now I have a psycho cat that I am trying to rehab named Caboodle (as in Kitten caboodle :)) Her prior owners locked her in a closet and left her there. Probably for days. Beth is trying to kind of psychoanalyze her, I'm trying to socialize her and it's getting better. She is at least 6 months from adoption however. I wish they had antipsychotics for cats. Plus her owners declawed her all four paws.
Every time I have been bitten by an animal, it has been my stupidity. You were probably the only person that Chompy had developed a trusting relationship with and splitting that up is hard. Love and blessings Diane

I hope that it works out for them. I know my sil's orange cat is very nice to her and I, but that it bites the heck out of strangers esp boys

I am sure it will work out when Chompy gets used to her new owner and new home and pets. Its all so new to her. They always take time to get settled and she was so attached to you. Horses are even worse, they take ages and can throw people off, their temperment really changed for a while.
Hope it all goes ok. Hugs. xxx

I hope that the kitten adjusts to her new home.I can so understand her love and attachment for you though 79. Sometimes traumatized animals can really attach or bond to someone.Give her time though but i hope you check up and in with her and the new family.Hugz for you my friend and i think all will work out.......

actually i kept checking my messages today to see if she called. i generally try not to call except to see if they are spayed/neutered. i didn't cash her check either. that was the other thing, i never take checks. i allowed it because of the mayhem, but this woman wasn't listening. or its a case of the person thinks they know better than you do even though they don't do rescue on any real level. very odd no matter what. we got another one in and the siameses STILL aren't here, though this other is a tortipoint siamese that sneezed, so the humane society called and let me take it. HUGE surprise. its the death part and near misses and traumas in rescue that i can't stand, and the laws, the animals, even in large quantities really don't bother me, though it get overwhelming sometimes. a lot of rescuers won't do adoption at all after awhile because they just don't trust the public at all. sometimes i feel like i am headed in that direction too. i hope not. ideally, the foster program and the FREE spay/neuter thing (if they ever put it into law) is the way to go. if it could be federally mandated it would be the best thing.

today is july 1 and like yesterday, i actually MISS chompy. didn't expect that. i feel guilty about making her go through anything. hopefully it is a good thing. there is very little attention for any cat here. because we rescue so many, even as a foster program. the cripples get about 1/3 (mostly michele) of cuddly time and the rest get whatever i remember, even my own. i am hoping over there its more individualized and it will go well. if not, i think she can just stay. i really have to stop doing that. k does that and he has a zillion animals. so now i still miss rocket cat. STILL adapting to that and its over a year and i miss chompy, there are a few i think of anyway. i don't really let go of losses sometimes. i see them in my dreams. it haunts you. other losses, i just feel bad and go over it in my head if i did this, if i did that, if the doctor prescribed that, but only when i think of it.
