Just be careful with whatever the dr. perscribes as some/most NSAIDS can have some potentially serious side effects...you already take Aleve, don't you? Many other pain killers are narcotic and addictive. I take Voltarin but not daily since i do not work outside of home these days. I cushion the pain in between with Tylenol Arthritis (can't take ibuprofen) so I do not have to take it so much (due to possible side effects and adverse reactions). When I was working I had to take Vioxx daily (before they discontinued it) along qwith a vicodin to get through a work day. So, take what you need, when you need. It is scary so just be your wise self. :)
Since you already exercise and stay fit just keep maintaining that as long as possible. it is the best thing if you can do if you do not overdo I think. I am beyond ability to be extremely active with Fibro/OA/DDD and look back at those years when I was able to bike and exercise and wish I could do much of it still. I have avoided narcotic pain relievers for the most part the past couple of years or so since I am home but am to the point where I need to ask for more than just the Voltarin myself. I don't mind aging, try to do it gracefully, just hate to feel so bad. Good luck Rhea. Love, Susan

I can't exercise anymore either Susan. The DDD has gotten noticeably worse just in the past 3 months. I wake up in terriable pain every morning and the least thing I do during the day makes my back hurt unbearably.:( Along with Fibro, right now I'm to the point I don't care as long as I get some relief:(

I am so sorry...I was thinking you were more active. I apologize. I feel so bad that you feel so bad. I understand Dear...I really do. The pain takes over our lives and limits us so. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope the doctor can help you. They may send you to a pian clinic. Have you tried daily meditation as a way to deal with it?
