    • About Me

I am a 46 year old left leg BKA. I am retired from a government job. I've had my amputation since December of 2004. I lost my left foot do to MRSA. I have put my life in God's hands, and I'm enjoying life to the fulliest. Back to the gym, playing golf, and volleyball. I diet and excercise to keep my right leg and left stump healthy and strong. I'm trying to lead a normal life with my BKA.

Hey Mike! You are such an inspiration to Colleen and I. I only lost half my foot to MRSA, but now I am walking better and I want to hike around in these Utah mountains, see the wildlife. We even have wolves up here! Fish in the mountain streams, snow play with the grandkids. God gives us the tools, we can make it. You will do great at the games. You are a great man. Make a lot of good friends. Always know you got friends here! Wally and Colleen

I am a 45 year old male. I lost my left foot due to MRSA. I had a BKA to my left leg in Dec. of 2004. It was a scary decsion, but I had to move on with my life. I spent about 2 months, getting fitted for my prosthetic leg. Also my therapy learning to walk again on my new leg. I am back working, back to the gym, and playing some sports like golf and volleyball. I am leading a pretty productive life right now. God is good !!!

      Treatments

      Physical Therapy Working / Worked
It was hard at first, learning to walk again. One day after about six weeks my hip, and new leg clicked. I walked straight, w/o a limp for the first time in years.
      Prosthetic Device Working / Worked
So far so good. A few minor adjustments. High cost in replacement parts, but worth it. The process of getting fitted to the final product took a while. But, also worth the wait.
