    • I’m With You

      From RXSam06 October 24, 2007

liz, I am Sam and I was diagnosed with DFSP 07/07 but mine was on my forehead. We elected to have MOHS instead of wide excision and my lesion measured over 10 x 6 inches and infiltrated to my skull. Now I am in the same position of having to start radiation. Let me know if I can help or answer any questions. I have been researching a lot and am looking at all of my options.

    • Close Skin Cancer
      Type: Other

Was diagnosed in July with Dermofibromasarcoma Protuberans discovered after tumor ulcerated on skin. I've had two surgeries (first biopsy/removal and second a wide excision). I am 35, female but developed this tumor unknowingly around age 32/33. This is a sarcoma that is very rare and I find it hard to find people who have experienced or heard of it - even in the medical field.

      Treatments

      Surgery Working / Worked
Sarcoma remova/excisionl. Very painful with 11.5 inch scar resulting, but effective. Not a cure for the sarcoma but definitely put it down. Risk of recurrence is high over the next 2 years but it beats radiaton or chemo, in my opinion
    • Close Gastritis

Developed gastritis after 3 surgeries in 30 days (1 minor, two major). My GP thought by my symptoms that I possibly could be throwing a post-op blood clot. Went to the ER and after about 8-10 hours of tests, Gastritis was the verdict. Cause was presumed to be anxiety/stress from surgeries and recent cancer diagnosis. Was put on Aciphex but wayyy too expensive so went on Protonix instead.

      Treatments

      Protonix Working / Worked
Worked almost immediately with no side effects. Developed gastritis from major surgery and hospitalization so a 30 day treatment is expected to work. I have had no complications since taking it and am back to eating spicy food and limited amounts of caffeine
      Aciphex Working / Worked
Was given this in the hospital. Helped immediately but I did not fill prescription as it was extremely pricey even with insurance. Took Protonix instead
