i went out on a first date, she picked the place- a japanese restraunt where they do tricky things at the table and cook it in front of you, and a dance/charity event.

She is a Little Person, so her voice is also a Little voice... so that made it hard, the restraunt was loud, especially for being so early in the evening (just after 5pm) and i kept missing when the chef would tell me he had food for my plate (the girl on the other side would nudge me). I had to lean over so i was almost in my date's lap to hear her voice, and she doesn't sign.

the dance was no better, but at least it was loud enough that nobody heard well. we got comfortable, danced well, and by the end of the night, she got the right position down to talk to me (i kept putting myself to her left when we were facing each other, and she took the hint)

they had these balloons up everywhere which was okay at first, but then they started to pop, and there were little latex dust storms every time one popped, so i had an asthma attack!

I forgot my inhaler, but was better after a bit, and went back to dancing.  near the end of the dance, about 30 minutes before it was supposed to end, the event staff started cleaning up, so they started popping ALL the balloons!!! I wish people would think about things a little more carefully.

It was a good date, despite the difficulties.  I forgot how hard it is to go out with someone who doesnt sign, even just a little.  I've taught my friends the "mandatory club signs" so that way we can say "lets dance, that person is cute, i need a drink..." those sorts of things.
