Pebbles
I have a history of minxy black and white cats lol Almost identical to pippi to everyone but me Pebbles was my best friend for eight of her ten years before we had to let her go. She died in our house in my mothers arms four years ago. Shed been through a year of medical treatment and it was just enough. I had to make the decision to let her go because she was mine. We could have continued to treat her but she was so ill they said shed probably die so i let her go. Couldnt be there in the end though and I will always be sorry for that.

Should note this was taken of her when she was still quite ill, we had to excercise her legs for her and we got her walking again eventually before she stopped again...this was the day she climbed onto the chair by herself after a month of not walking a step.

We had a similar situation with our little Sheite Sue sp?! We had her for a full seventeen years. I know what you mean about maybe having things end differently. Sounds like we did the very best that we could. Fortunately,experience of this nature ois usually limited in one's life time.
