hey lady :) CFer's are generally NOT supposed to be around other CFers because of bugs like P.A. and B. Cepacia. "normal" people catch theses bugs and cough them right out. CFers catch it and it makes a nice little nest in their lung because of the mucus. The mucus is warm, moist, amd sticky which is a perfect place for bugs to get. So a CFer can get these bugs from other CFers that have already been exposed to them. For the most part, CF camps and the like do sputum cultures before you're allowed to attend, the cultures test for the antibiotic resistant germs. It's a hard call because CFers need someone who knows what it's like having CF to be around, for emotional purposes. So it's really just the caregivers call, ya know? It's tough trying to find where to draw the lines... Hope this helps ~hugsnkisses Noel
