About Me
I am a retired widower with 4 sons, their wifes & 8 grandkids! Before my wife of 48 + yrs.died, we enjoyed auto travel from Mid-West to the Pacific Northwest & states in between. Favorite sports are college basketball, football and Pro football and baseball. Thanks to my emphysema and since on oxygen ( about a year) my travel has greatly been curtailed & limited to local, necessary e.g. Doctors, groceries, clothing, etc. & sometimes a meal out. Sports viewing is now restricted to TV. My PC also helps keep my busy (games, internet browsing, banking, etc) as does general TV viewing. Keeping positive attitued is sometimes difficult, but I keep trying !

Close COPD & Emphysema
I smoked for over 50 yrs! Had open heart surgery (2002) havn't smoked since!! Found I had emphysema one yr. later! Breathing got worse & started home oxygen (Oct.2006)! I want to travel, but concentrator is too large & heavy and portable bottles not designed for long trips. I try to be and think positive and not complain too much because I do realize that there are millions of people much worse off than me! I do thank God,for the health I do have left even though mostly restricted to home!

- Can't tell if Spiriva works or not? I have stopped and later restart but can't tell any differance ???
Close Heart Failure
Dr. ordered angiogram early 2002. Was getting bad heart burn when mowing lawn and other exertion. Went to double by-pass surgery on 5/31/02 same month and day my wife had triple by-pass surgery in 1994. She died 7 yrs. later..She was heavy smoker also kept smoking till death but never had any symptoms of emphysema, but was daignosed with same many years earlier.
