About Me
Frustrated over continual hives and chest pain. It has been going on for 7 yrs now but this is the third serious breakout. It took 8 months last time to get rid of them and I was hive free for 10 months and now they're back. I get chest pain too usually for a few weeks or months before they break out. Dr said it has to be auto immune or allergy. They have so far been unable to find the cause. It's horrible and they seem to be worse each time and make me physically ill. Chills extreme fatigue some nausea and chest pain seem to go along for the ride. I am now going to go for food allergy tests, biofeedback stuff, auto immune testing and anything else I can think of to find the cause. I'm seeing an autoimmune specialist and now being refered to an endocrinologist lets hope I get some answers. Meanwhile gang check out the International Chronic Uticaria Society they ROCK and they have a lot of support and answers.

Support Groups
Close Hives
Have had 3 significant bouts of hives precluded by weeks or months of chest pains.
Treatments
- Benadryl Not Working
- Does not help symptoms
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- somewhat helpful
- Acupuncture Too Soon to Tell
- Saw a Dr of Chinese Medicine who said I was in "terrible shape" he did a lot of accupuncture sites especially with my liver, spleen and heart. He believes he can cure my hives and stregthen my immune system. Lets hope it works.
- Acupuncture Somewhat Helpful
- I definately felt better but the cost was too much to continue
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Makes you shakey and puts weight on but it's the only thing I've found that actually works 100% of the time
- Zyrtec Working / Worked
- Makes you sleepy and gives me a headache helps to cut down on the prednisone - I take one at night and gets me through until I take the steriod
Close Panic Attacks
I am not sure I have panic disorder but I am suffering from hives, trouble breathing and now depression my Dr. put me on zoloft and ativan as well as hive meds. Sometimes I get so I cannot breathe and I have to use the puffer. Sometimes too when I get scared like public speaking or driving I can't breathe and I either faint or I have to sit down.
Treatments
- Ativan Somewhat Helpful
- Patience Somewhat Helpful
- Patience my butt!!
- Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
- Rescue Remedy Not Working
- Xanax Not Working
- I quit taking it. I'm tired of all the pills the Dr. pushes on me.
- Zoloft Too Soon to Tell
- Biofeedback Somewhat Helpful
- Believeit or not Quantum Biofeedback is helping me as is accupuncture. The problem is you have to do it 2 or 3 times a week and it is expensive to keep doing. Why does everything have to cost?
Open Health Care Reform
I am so tired of the self proclaimed greatest country on earth not having universal health care! Medical bills are the #1 cause of bankruptcy in the good ole USA. Even insured people often can't afford the copays and percentage YOU owe after a surgery. My gall bladder sugery even with insurance cost me over 5,000 - my husband had a bad accident 2 yrs ago and our portion was over 20,000 who has that in their back pocket? Not many of us and certainly not me.
