    • About Me

I am 37 years old and I live with my husband and 4 boxers. We have no children, but I might as well with the dogs. I am on disability and miss my career desperately. I love reading in my hammock and playing with my babies. My husband and I are involved with Boxer Rescue and it is a good feeling to be able to help both the dogs and their owners.

Our widow had begun to take over as the alpha as well. I guess they are all the same that way. Perhaps a new alpha arises not just to take their place on top, but to take control and be the caretaker? Our boy got cancer as well and had just turned 8 yrs old. We really should have had him put to sleep 2-3 weeks earlier but we were very selfish and just praying for a miracle - maybe it would go away. I wouldn't hold off that long again. It really just about killed what little was left of us. I worry about the widow because she has begun panting a lot more recently and gets out of breath easily. The boy's was lung cancer, among other spots, by the time we found it.

A puppy is delightful but you're right. SOOOOO much work!

We got the boy to help hubby rehab after a brain injury. If he hadn't been my husbands, I am certain I would have flushed him down the toilet , lol, he was a real troublemaker. After hubby got better a year or so later, he trained the boy and that dog turned out to be the best dog I've ever encountered.

Well, if you ever need a boxer sitter....[grin]

Awwww. So sorry you lost that one. We lost our old boy in March this year and it was/is devastating. We still have his widow (age 6) and she has not been the same. She'd had him by her side her entire life - she was HIS puppy. LOL. Boxers are the most precious dogs I've ever encountered. Our boy was the closest thing to a human dog that we'd ever encountered. Such joy... Hugs!

I saw your post somewhere on Chronic Pain but wanted to remark about your name - BoxerLover. We are too. And when you are a boxer fan, you notice all pictures of them. Too cute! To have FOUR, you must be a sweet person and possess a great sense of humor as well. Ours always kept us in stitches. LOL. Good luck!
