I am a software designer and technical author. I am married and have a 5 year old son. I have had 4 surgeries on cervical spine in the past 7 years. I have 2 fusions, have cervical stenosis and have permenant damage to the spinal cord due to the severit of cord compression.

Close Back Pain
I have 2 fusions in my neck and have had 4 cervical spine surgeries in 7 years. I have permenant damage to the spinal cord and have cervical stenosis
Treatments
- TENS Working / Worked
- I use Transcutaneous Spinal Electroanalgesia (TSE) in addition to TENS. TSE you place on your spine no matter where the pain is. Its accumulative too rather than just instant for TENS
- Cortisone (Injection) Not Working
- Made my pain worse
- Massage Working / Worked
- Weekly deep tissue massage really helps
- Morphine Working / Worked
- I had patches. They worked and helped me during a big flare up
- Neurontin Working / Worked
- Was working for about 4 years, but eventually, the pain got worse. Was taken off this and put on Lyrica
- Lyrica Working / Worked
- Have been on this for a month and it seems to be working well
- Elavil Working / Worked
- Was on this for 10 yeara. I am coming off this as Dr says there are newer, better ones
- Tramadol Working / Worked
- Have been taking this for 6 years. Not sure if this is effective as it was. I came off it - was quite hard to do - but then was put back on it. Dr wants me to try something else
- Clonazepam Working / Worked
- Stops my jerking whilst lying down. Without it, its like body popping! Have been on this for a couple of months now, and it does the trick
Close Chronic Pain
I have 2 fusions in my neck and have had 4 cervical spine surgeries in 7 years. I have permenant damage to the spinal cord and have cervical stenosis. I have good days and bad days, but not a day gpes by without beingin pain. Currently seeing a pain management consultant
Treatments
- Heat Working / Worked
- Sometimes helps to relieve the tension that you get from being in pain all day lonng
- Lyrica Working / Worked
- I have been on this for a month. I was on gabapentin for 5 years, but came off that to start with Lyrica. The first week that I took it I managed to work full time (sat at a computer) for a whole week (a rareity I can tell you)
- Morphine Working / Worked
- I was on a morphine patch for 6 weeks recently, and it helped. The Drs nor I wanted me to be on it for any longer than that.
- Neurontin Working / Worked
- I was on this for 5 years. It worked for a while, but as time progressed, and further surgeries had, it no longer worked well enough. I am now on Lyrica
- TENS Working / Worked
- Good if you have it on the correct area. I now have a TSE machine which works directly on the spinal cord
