Got a chance to go fishing Saturday.  The first time in more than a year.  Went to Vickie's house.  But it was costly.  I had to decided to travel "light" and only take three rods, two baitcasting and one spincasting. Normally, I take five or six.  When I got up there, I found I'd traveled really light.  I'd brought the smaller tackle box that had very little in it.  No hooks, two weights, two floats ands some lures.The bigger box had all the goodies, hooks, a variety of weights, floats, pliers, line cutters, etc.  So, I borrowed a hook from Vickie and decided to take it easy and use the spincasting rig.  I'd brought some cut up wieners for bait.  As always, Foxy went with me and when she saw the wiener on the hook, she wanted a piece.  After a few begs, I put my rod in my lap and was giving her a piece when the rod was jerked off my lap and into the lake!  It was strange sight seeing that rod heading out to the lake!  As near as we can figure, the fish that was on the other end of the line would have been the biggest fish we would have caught.  I looked at Foxy and told her she had better enjoy that wiener because it cost me fifty bucks.  Anyway, Vickie fixed me a great birthday meal of grilled sirloin steak, baked potato, broccoli, and salad.  Plus, she'd made a chocolate sheet cake, my favorite.  I reach 63 Monday.  As you know, I've put up some solar curtains in my picture window.  They're supposed to keep the heat out in summer and and in in winter.  Saturday was the first day they really could be tested.  We've had cooler temperatures for the last week, getting up into the lower 90s since I put them up.  But Saturday, it got up to 98.  We'd been out of the house since four that morning and didn't get home till six that afternoon.  The air conditioning is never on when we're away so there was a full day for the house to get hot.  When I walked in the house, it wasn't that hot.  Almost pleasant in a warm kind of way.  If that's any indication, the curtains work.  They're easy to put up using a shower curtain rod and fairly inexpensive.  Maybe, I'll save some money this year.
