    • Close Lung Cancer

I was just told about this site. Had the battle with lung cancer since being diagnosed in April 2006. I was diagnosed with non small cell cancer and was told it could not be operated on because it was at stage four and had spread to my lymph nodes. It was amazing because I felt really great the only reason I went to the doctor is because I coughed up some blood. Anyway when I got this diagosis I spent a couple of days trying to get myself together as I was told I had 6 months to a year left. I decided to get a second opinion just in case someone had made a mistake. Well thank god I did! My new and current doctor first asked me why they did not want to operate. I told him they said that they couldn't. He told me that his surgeon said that the lung can be removed and that they could see no spreading into the lymph nodes. To make a long story short here I am 8 months later after surgery, chemo and radiation. My latest PET scan shows no cancer so right now it is wait and see...they say if none shows up for three years I will be considered a survivor...but for now I am working on getting used to having just one lung and being very thankful that I am still here. PLEASE don't ever not get a second opinion.
