New Developement Mood
Thursday, May 21, 2009 | A General Update story

Hello my Dear DS sisters,

Well as most of you know I have been in a hurt financially.  My apartment locating job right now is not very profitable.  I have leased a few apartments but have not got paid on them yet.  It takes so long.  It is not my company, it is the complexes themselves that take their sweet time.  I have been on many interviews, but no one seems to want to hire me, so I applied at the local grocery store.  They hired me and I start today.  I am still going to do the apartment locating.  I am going to try to do both.  Working at a grocery store  was never my ideal job, but at least it will put money in my pocket to pay the bills.  Between both it should be okay.  Hopefully the apartment locating business will take off and I won't need the grocery store job.  I told them when they hired me that I already have a trip planned to NJ, so Linda this will not interfere with that.  I am still coming.  I don't know what kind of hours I will be working but it will be part time.  I told them I just wanted to work like 20 hours a week.  Just knowing that I will be able to pay the bills is helping me out of my depression.  Phyically I feel fine.

I had Jury Duty yesterday.  My time was 12:15.    I parked my car at the Park and Ride and took the bus.  It was quite a nice experience.  I have not taken a bus in years.  It was quite a nice bus.  Was more like a plane on the inside, with the A/C overhead and storage compartment up above.  The bus takes the HOV (high occupancy) lane so it was quick fast.  I got there early because of the time I had to catch the bus.  The worse part was the sitting around waiting to see where they were going to send you.  Finally they let me go at about 2:45.  Did not pick me.  So I was grateful for that.

So that is about it for now my dear sisters.  Let you know how it goes.

Love and hugs to all

Anita

I'm glad you got this part-time job at the grocery store. Even if it's not your preference, it's giving you peace of mind (regarding paying the bills.) So this is a good thing!! I'm sorry this year
has been so rough for you--but it seems that you're going to come through this ok. Don't you feel things
turning in your favor?..because I can sense it in your writing. I'm smiling for you and hope you are, too!
    I'm sending you a hug!

Hey Anita-So glad you got the job at the grocery store. I agree with Inka, sometimes it's good to have a job where the stress is minimal and you have the opportunity to meet new people. That's what I liked most when I waitressed years ago...Good Luck! Now you can really enjoy your trip to NJ!

What would I do without my DS sisters support and encouragement. I was feeling a bit low about the fact that the only job I could get(besides the apartment locating) was at the grocery store. Thank you all so much.

Hello Anita, I,too, am so happy to hear that you have a job! I think being around people and the everyday bustle of life helps to lift one's mood. Plus, of course, it is always good to have more money coming into the bank account. Who knows - if something better comes along you can always take it. When is Christian's birthday. I have another grandson, Alex, who is turning 3 on June 23. I'm actually going to be in Austin, Texas from the 14th through the 17th of June for a conference and then am going to Denver where my daughter lives with Alex, her baby Cara (9 months) and her husband. I am staying there until the 21 but they will have Alex's party on the 20th. Many hugs, Janet

Thank you everyone for your support. Yesterday was my first day. I worked from 2pm till 10pm. I won't be working those hours once I am trained. Came home with my back aching from being on my feet all day. I hope I can handle this. More later.

They are moslty kids. A few old foggies like me, but not too many. Everyone is very nice. There is more to this cashier business then meets the eye. For example I have to be trained at the TABC before I can check out alcoholic beverages.

So glad to hear that you've gotten the job at the grocery store. I know that our local ones have cashiers who really are delightful. It's easier, sometimes to have a more rote occupation that requires less of one's soul...When I managed the boarding kennel, sometimes on holidays I'd help outside, walking dogs, cleaning kennels. It was such a nice break from dealing with a non-stop phone, questions, problems, emergencies...and a 10-11 hour day! I'd just sort of space out a bit. If this helps with your financial situation, I am thinking your depression will lift...and things will improve every day! hugs, lindamae

Thank you all for your good wishes. I have been working more hours than I thought I would. I come home with my back aching from standing 7 hours. I am still in training. Lindamae even though it is local it is a chain, and a pretty big store. It is a supermarket. Not as busy as some of the other chains. It has been very busy over this Memorial Day weekend. I don't know how long I am going to last there. In the meantime though it is a way to pay my bill. Love to everyone.
