Close Arnold-Chiari Malformation
I was diagnosed with CM1 June 07 with decompression surgery July 07. I am having a hard time accepting everything that has happened this year.
Treatments
- Surgery Working / Worked
- Not as bad as before but not healing as fast as I would like.
Close Arrhythmias
Type: TachycardiaI had an ablation 2 1/2 years ago for SVT but it did not work. They also had me on lopressor until I ended up in the hospital for 3 days with an asthma attack. This year after an unrelated surgery my rate was 140 and above just standing up so they put me on cardizem. I ended up in the ICU for something unrelated but while I was there they found out my rate was now in the 30's. They are now saying I have inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia and they gave me a pacemaker.
Treatments
- Diltiazem Somewhat Helpful
- They are adjusting the dose to get me under 100.
- Radiofrequency Ablation Not Working
- Did not work. They could not reproduce the SVT.
- Verapamil Not Working
- Dropped my rate to the 30's
- Pacemaker Too Soon to Tell
- On my last visit I was told I have only used it 6% of the time.
- Metoprolol Not Working
- Caused Asthma attack so I can not take anything in this class of drugs.
Open Environmental Allergies
Type of allergy: LatexI have multiple allergies with the worst being latex, food allergies related to that and enviornmental.

- Can't remember why they took me off.
- Allergy Shots Working / Worked
- Feeling much better now that I am taking them again
- Nasacort AQ Working / Worked
- helped but I kept forgetting to use.
- Nasonex Not Working
- dried me out too much.
- Singulair Working / Worked
- I take it more for asthma. Does not seem to help allergies.
Open Bereavement
Type: Loss of a Partner/SpouseMy husband died in Jan of 05. I thought I was dealing with it just fine but I have had a very bad year and I miss him because he was my only support.

- they never know what to say or do so they just ignore me or act like he never exsisted.
Open Chronic Pain
I started having pain after a car accident in 95. I had injections and PT and it seemed to help but then with added stress I got worse. I found a pamphlet about Fibro and asked my dr if maybe that is what I had. I think to shut me up he said yes. The did the "test" of the spots and I had all of them. but this year I was diagnosed with Chiari malformation and found out I don't really have fibro because after the surgery for chiari the fibro symptoms went away. Now new pains and tx.

- I think this made the chiari worse. will never do this again

- helps sometimes
- Heat Working / Worked
- helps until I take it off
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- worked but every once in a while they have to switch me back to percocet.

- helps until I remove them

- Worked and I was off because I felt better. Was ok. until after surgery.

- helped for headaches but not the other pains

- working for now

- worked for some problems but recently made my problems worse

- helped while it was on but can not use it much because I have a pacemaker.
Open Asthma
Type: Adult AsthmaI was diagnosed with asthma when I was 19 and it was the same year I was diagnosed with latex allergy.
Treatments

- can't remember why I switched
- Albuterol Not Working
- helped my breathing but increased heart rate way too much
- Immunotherapy Working / Worked
- allergy shots help
- Pulmicort Working / Worked
- helps but now I only have to take when I feel a cold coming on

- Seems to be controlling it very well.
- Theophylline Working / Worked
- increased heart rate way too much
- Xopenex Working / Worked
- much better for heart rate, use it as an inhaler and in nebulizer but don't need it often
Open Medical Mysteries
I have been told I have dysautonomia and chiari malformation. so I guess I am not as much of a mystery anymore. Dr's still don't know why I am having problems thought.

I lost my husband Jan 05. Was expected but not at that time. I really miss him now that I am going through so much and he was my best friend and would always help me.

Open Hydrocephalus
I have pseudo tumor cerebri AKA increased intracranial pressure. May have to have a shunt soon since I am allergic to the meds. very scared because I don't want a shunt but I don't want to lose my vision.

- Acetazolamide Not Working
- severe numbness and tingling and then found out I was allergic to it.
