I'm married with three grown children--missed a lot of their growing up years because of chronic pain and lots of kidney stones. I'm a sometimes photographer (when the pain allows). Church is important as is community involvement. I've had a 40 year "romance" with kidney stones. In the mid 1980s I had to go on temporary medical disability because of so many kidney stones. I've been dealing with low back pain since 2000, Went on SS disability in 2004.

Close Back Pain
Two back surgeries--both because of injuries. Surgery completely fixed the pain. For some reason 10 years later the chronic pain came. I've been in pain for seven years. MRIs showed mainly bulging discs and degenerative disc disease
Treatments
- Ambien Working / Worked
- 10mm immediate release dose is helping me sleep all night. Havent this much sleep in a long time. Tried the 12.5mm continuous release. It made me crazy.
- Bedrest Working / Worked
- Cortisone (Injection) Working / Worked
- Epidural Injection Not Working
- Morphine Working / Worked
- Helps to keep pain bareable
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- Physical Therapy Working / Worked
- I began a water therapy program in March of 2008. Progress has been fantastic. I hardly think of the pain when I'm in the water.
- TENS Somewhat Helpful
- Tricky getting rhe electrodes in the right place.
Close Chronic Pain
7 years of chronic back pain doctors said surgery wouldn't help. Have been treated at two pain clinics none of injections helped. Pain meds have helped but I get tolerant to them and need more or larger doses. Guess what the doctors say about that.

- Oxycodone Somewhat Helpful
- Works well with Soma. Without Soma it doesn't work at all.

- Epidural Injection Not Working
Open Degenerative Disc Disease
I've been diagnosed with DDD since 2000. Having that diagnoses helped me get approved for SS disibility

Open Kidney Stones
Have had kidney stones for 40+ years.Had so many in the mid 1980s that I lost my job. Have passed 12 in he last three years. Had to have an 8mm one blasted last summer.
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Not Working
- Tried all non-kidney stone diets. None has worked
- Surgery Somewhat Helpful
- One staghorn taken by surgey. A million csyto proceedures and a bunch of litho.
- Drinking Water Working / Worked
- Helps pass the small ones. Generally drinking more water helps all body functons.
- Carisoprodol Not Working
- Epidural Injection Not Working
Open Medicare
Been in Medicare four years due to disability. Would like to join discussions about problems or sucessess with Medicare.
Open Impotence & Erectile Dysfunction
Had to begin taking high blood pressure medication in 1980s. The doctor said he gave me the medication least likely to effect errection. I changed medications a couple of times. BP got better but not ED. Tried pumps and injections before the ED medications came out--didn't work. Have been prescribed Viagra, and Cialis but haven't taken them. I have chronic back pain and I pass a lot of kidney stones. Seems like I'm in to much pain all the time to do anything.
