    • About Me

I am a 32 year old (bi-polar) mom with depression, GAD, ptsd, ADHD and have an ten year old son with Asperger's with severe ADHD. We've been through 2 marriages (so far) and a few moves. Family, respect, and understanding are big issues I drive with my son. I just want to know if I as blind to anything or if I do a great job with him considering his social inabilities. I've also been through divorce(s) malistation, abuse (physical, emotional, sexual) fatherless, you name it if it scars psycologically I've dealt with it somehow.

Glad to be your friend Sarah - having a child with behavioural issues can be a very isolating experience and a lot of people just wouldn't have a clue what life's really like for both Aspies and their families. Here's a good website: http://www.tonyattwood.com.au/ Professor Attwood has written books re Aspies.

Hi Sarah! I'm not sure how you decided to include me in your circle...I don't remember responding to any of your posts....but in any event...thanks!

Seems like we have a lot in common with our kiddo's and I have PTSD as well from well...lots of stuff.

My boy is 13 now....if I can help out in anyway...let me know. I'll try to go to the Aspie group and see what help you have been reaching out for.

    • Close ADHD / ADD

I have an eight year old son, Nick. He's intelligent (with a higher IQ) and passionate about helping others. However his impulse control and the ability to draw himself away from his own desires or toward the sound of my voice when speaking to him is frustrating. I feel like I should be stricker, however, I've tried to keep the idea of not disrespecting, and helping, not talking back or lying our main concerns, everything else is pretty much negotiable (however irritated I my get)

      Treatments

      Adderall Not Working
36mg - didn't really control his impulses, and was worried about long term effects.
      Clonidine Not Working
15mg - no noticable effect whatsoever
      Concerta Working / Worked
72mg - has more control over impulse and frustration issues
      Remeron Working / Worked
      Seroquel Not Working
      Strattera Somewhat Helpful
25mg- didn't help as much as we had hoped, and then stopped

I don't really have the time now, but my son is adhd, and just diagn. with odd. I've been having a "field day" lately with him.

      Treatments

      Child Time-out Somewhat Helpful
if he even does it! Ususally it's just laugh and run! It's so not worth chasing him and just distracts from the issue anyway.
      Avonex Too Soon to Tell
Is that what intensive in home therapy is called? Just started we seem to be having better days but the newness is starting to ware off.
    • Open Parents of Children with ADHD

I am a single mother with an 8 year old boy with ADHD and ODD, what else is there to tell. Each day brings highs and lows and each second brings either pride or chaos.

    • Open Asperger Syndrome

I've spent the last 5 years knowing that my son is ADHD with bi-polar qualities, but there was something else going on that was not diagnosed until recently. We went to a special institute and they diagnosed him with Asperger's Syndrom. I have so many concerns and want him to understand the disorder but he could care less at this time. Need support of other parents and encouragement through people who have AS.

      Treatments

      Concerta Working / Worked
Allows him to somewhat focus on school and everyday activities. Allows controlability.
