I finally was able to speak to Shirley late yesterday afternoon.  They wound up having the second scenerio.  She still had a lot of infection so he routed her intestine away from the damaged area and tried to clean out as much infection as possible.  She has a colostomy bag until he can do the next surgery to reroute her intestines and remove the damaged part.  That will have to wait for at least 4 more weeks.

 She had a tube in her throat so it was a little hard to speak.  She was in a lot of pain, of course.  I haven't been able to get an answer from her room phone today.  They are probably doing tests on her and then she is very tired I am sure.

At least she is ok and they are trying to clear up the infection.  Hopefully the next surgery will be easier for her. 

As for the animals, they have not changed one iota.  Jethro, the cat has now begun pulling himself up onto Sammi's make up cart and taking off with any makeup brush she has left out.  He looks hilarious carrying around the makeup brush by the end like prey.
