    • About Me

I work full time and go to grad school part time at night. I'm working to get my Master's in Clinical Psych and think eventually I'd like to be a play therapist, working with young kids and helping them work out their issues through play.

Some hobbies - music, movies, reading, painting, drawing, and the outdoors (hiking, biking - road and mountain), though I usually pay for that over the next few days. As much as it hurts sometimes, I can't just give that up. I like to tell myself I'm strong anyway, keep my chin up, and remember that: "behind every cloud, the sun is still shining."

    • Close Fibromyalgia

It took years and multiple doctors to finally be diagnosed, but still most doctors dismiss me or seem to think I'm exaggerating how badly I feel. The pain seems to gets worse every day and my body feels so much older than its 26 years.

      Treatments

      Cyclobenzaprine Somewhat Helpful
Extreme drowsiness when I first took it, but since I actually slept, I continued to take it. Drowsiness wore off, though it still helps me sleep through really painful nights. Doesn't eliminate pain for me, but reduces it somewhat.
      Darvon Not Working
      Daypro Not Working
I had to stop taking this after 2 weeks because of severe stomach pain.
      Ibuprofen Somewhat Helpful
800-1000mg seemed to reduce and dull the pain, but never eliminated it. Unfortunately, stomach issues from fibro and from all the medicine has left me unable to keep taking this.
      Mobic Not Working
      Naproxen Somewhat Helpful
Helped a little bit but had to stop after about two weeks because of stomach side effects.
      Robaxin Working / Worked
Worked wonders the first few times, but now my body is used to it so it isn't as effective. Still reduces pain and tension in my neck.
      Skelaxin Not Working
    • Close Scoliosis

I was diagnosed by my chiropracter's office, and fortunately it's only mild. Combined with Fibromyalgia leaves me feeling pretty stiff, sore and achey.

      Treatments

      Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
It's one of the only thing that helps. The effect wears off after a few hours, but it's nice to have those few hours with less pain!
      Ibuprofen Working / Worked
This doesn't eliminate the pain, but dulls it. I can't take it anymore though because of stomach issues.
      Tylenol Somewhat Helpful
      Not as effective as ibuprofen
    • Open Hyperthyroidism

I was just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, though I don't know much about it. I was surprised by the diagnosis, I was expecting it to be hypo given the fatigue - but I also have fibromyalgia, so I guess that explains that.
