I have been walking 3 miles at least 3 days a week. The other days I walk up the hill behind our house; it's a bit more aerobic. My doctor wants me to lose 50 pounds so I am working on that. It seems daunting, but I have to do it. My older brother had a heart attack and needed triple bypass; he actually crashed on the way to the operating room. Pretty scary! So, I gotta get in shape! I got an Ipod Shuffle so I can listen to some tunes when I am walking and it makes it much more fun. I also went on a quest to find the perfect pair of walking shoes. I thought I'd buy a couple of pair and pick the most comfortable. Well, after 13 pair #14 is the winner. Who knew I'd have so much trouble finding a good fit. I over-pronate and have a thin heel. I tried New Balance which I'd heard were very good, but none of them fit. Then I tried Reebok; they were a little better. Finally I tried Ryka; they are only made for women. At last, the perfect, almost, walking shoe. I am going to order a second pair, just in case they change the style. You know how that goes. You find the right fit (usually a bra, right ladies) and then they discontinue the style. I have lost 5 pounds, so far. Want to lose 4 more before I see the doctor again. By the end of the year, I want to be down 10 - 15 more, if possible. We'll see.
I made it through the first anniversary of my mom's death pretty well. An interesting thing happened, though. Coincidence maybe. Or maybe not. We had a pair of doves nesting in the back yard. They left the nest in mid-July. As it got closer to July 24th, the anniversary, I'd see the doves around the neighborhood. Then I didn't see them anymore. I got an email from my sister in Arizona around this time and I told her about the doves and she said that she had doves nesting over her garage. Coincidentally they had arrived just as mine had disappeared. Then she emailed me that her doves had left. The next day, my doves were back. And, the most amazing part, on the morning of the 24th, one dove sat in our tree in the back yard and cooed for an hour or two straight. And then he left again. Mom? Maybe. I hope so.
Hope you are all well. I haven't been on much. Didn't feel like I had anything to say, but I have been missing reading about my friends, so I will check in more often. I've missed you.

I've missed you, too! What a neat story about the doves. I remember when we got back from my mom's funeral, later that day I was walking around our yard and saw a flower blooming that she and I had bought together earlier that year before we knew she was sick. It hadn't bloomed all summer, but there in early fall, was a big beautiful bloom! It seemed to tell me everything would be OK. Good for you for walking so much! big hug!

That's really a touching story about the Doves.
I say why not. We sure don't know anything about the afterlife. Hell, we don't even know half of what is going on around us in our own dimension!!
My husband has many issues, I won't go into them here, but butterflys land on him a lot. I told him I believe it's God's way of trying to make contact with him and letting him know God loves him.
He thinks I'm nuts.

Came back tonight for a visit and realized how much I missed all of my DS friends. Hope you are all well. I am doing well. Finished working a couple of weeks ago and am now busy with spring cleaning. We are having a block party at my house on June 13th, so I need to get everything ship-shape. One of my nieces just had twin girls and my other niece is due in August. Very exciting. haven't seen the twins yet, but will go as soon as they are out of the hospital. They weighed just over 4 pounds, so they'll be in the hospital until they are bigger. Their names are Sophia Persephone and Mackenzie Athena. Enormous names for such tiny babies. Hope all of my DS friends are well. It's good to be back.
