Julie Cohen is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) and a Child Mental Health Specialist with a private practice in Los Angeles. Her areas of focus include: depression, anxiety, panic, post-traumatic stress, bipolar disorder, and gay and lesbian issues. Ms. Cohen also consults with parents and caregivers to help them resolve power struggles, arguments and problem behaviors with their children. In addition to her private practice, Ms. Cohen is also a clinical supervisor to MFT interns at a non-profit counseling center which treats at-risk children and adolescents.

Ms. Cohen has more than nineteen years of clinical experience working in the mental health field. Her early training focused on trauma recovery. She also served as Director of Clinical Services at a community-based domestic violence shelter and counseling center. As director, Ms. Cohen created one of the first counseling programs in the country to address the mental health needs of children victimized by domestic violence.

Ms Cohen earned a Masters Degree in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, and a BA in Child Development with an emphasis in Child Mental Health, both from California State University, Northridge. She is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
