The work of Dr. Georgianna Donadio DC, MSc, PhD has touched the lives of millions of people worldwide. For more than 35 years, she has been educating the healthcare community, as well as her patients, students and the public about how one’s nutritional, environmental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health come together to produce illness or wellness.
Currently, she is focused on establishing credentials for health and wellness coaches through service on the national steering committee, created by Dr. Mehmet Oz’s, Heathcorps. In addition, she is concentrated on bringing an integrative health approach to military medical centers and military spouses, so as to serve U.S. military personnel.
Dr. Donadio’s pioneering work began in 1976 when, after years of working in nursing and medical administration, she recognized the one-sided ineffectiveness of traditional medicine for chronic disease states. This awareness motivated her to establish the National Institute of Whole Health (NIWH) in Boston.
In the process, she pioneered the concepts of Whole Person Health Care™ and Whole Health Education®, a hospital-tested Best Practice model for patient health education and behavioral engagement. Today, NIWH is an international, professionally accredited provider of evidence-based, integrative health focused continuing education programs for medical, allied health and health education providers. The organization certifies Whole Health Educators and bridges the gap created by conventional medical education and a holistic approach to healing.
Dr. Donadio’s commitment and passion for nursing and transforming both medical education and patient education, is central to her work with NIWH, her practice and her commitment to teaching. A long-time proponent of the important role nurses play in healthcare, she is one of only six Florence Nightingale scholars in the country and is a sought-after, award-winning nurse advocate.
In addition, Dr. Donadio is a popular and compelling speaker, author and media personality whose expertise has been showcased through hundreds of speaking engagements, articles and interviews for TV, radio, print and online media. For 20 years, she hosted a nationally syndicated television program dedicated to women’s health and lifestyle issues that reached millions of diverse populations across the country.
