Hi everyone. I am nearing 30 years old and I was diagnosed about a year and a half ago but I have had it since my early 20's. I think it is hard to get a diagnosis when you are not near the average age group of those diagnosed. I am saddened for those of you who are even younger than myself having to suffer through this at a time in life when you are just finding yourself and deciding on a path for your future. I was fortunate to get through college before my life was so affected that I started going to the doctor to figure out what the heck was wrong with me.
I am here for anyone who wishes to talk and hopefully I can be a helping hand to someone in need. I am thankful for this group as so many other people can not relate to having chronic pain and fatigue when we should be in the prime of our lives.
Smiles,
J-Lynn

Thank you. I'm 18 and just been diagnosed. I have had symptoms since I was 11 and no one every took this seriously. I've been to so many doctors who just look down on me for doing my own research into why I was feeling like this. It's relieving to finally have a diagnosis and some answers. -

It's so hard when no one thinks that you hurt like you say you do. I remember my mom saying "I'll get you an appointment with the doctor, but if he says it's nothing, you need to stop complaining." Of course once the rheumatologist diagnosed me, she's been the most supportive person in my life.
I agree that actually knowing what is causing your pain and fatigue is relieving. I'm so glad I have finally found people who understand what this disease does to people. If anyone needs to talk, I'm in college and always looking for opportunities to talk instead of study :) -

I completely agree. I've had people tell me that it's 'all in your head' or simply 'a part of being a teenager'.. but I knew it was more than that. I was in serious pain and no one believed it. Now that I have a diagnosis it's amazing how many people understand/try to understand.
Lol I'm keen to talk.. I'm the exact same. Except I'm doing a poster for one of my papers on Fibro.
