thinking on children
Posted on 08/05/09, 04:07 am
Okay so here goes. I been thinking about having kids but after all the research and tons of hours pouring into more research on daily stregnth. I dont see very many positve stories on pregnancy. I know the risks of meds, and malformities. I know the risk of phycosis. But what i havent seen is any positive sucess stories of bipolar moms who stayed on there meds. I tried looking up on bing, google, ask and even tried the local library. There are three books written by a bipolar moms who went through it that i m going to get and read. But other then that no positive stories. So heres my ? If you are a mom or have gone through a pregnancy did you have severe mood changes and depression severely? NOw if your a mom how is it going with being bipolar?
thanks for any replies..

I'm not a mom, so I can't answer most of your question, but I can answer part of it. My best friend is also bipolar, and she has two little girls, six and 18 months. She is, honest-to-God, the best stinkin' mom I have ever seen. She has her bad days, and she gets depressed and hypo and stressed out and a little crazy sometimes. but those girls never want for anything, be it material, emotional, anything at all - the mom instinct kicks in and she puts them first in all things. Somehow she rises above her moods and gives them a stable environment. So I know that if you can get through the pregnancy and such, you CAN be bipolar and be a wonderful mother. -

just as carolineleigh i can not answer the questions that you really want. i am just here to say good luck and you will have my prayers and it would be nice to hear how things go for you over the next months since i am planning to have children one day soon. if it be Gods will.
