Seroquel + Tiredness , does it pass?

Posted on 11/19/08, 07:00 pm
I've been on a low dose, 50mg at night of seroquel because I went into another manic agitated couldn't sleep rage and my pdoc added some seroquel, I'm supposed to take 50mg at night, if that doesn't help me sleep, take a 100mg. It's really not making me sleepy for hours after I take it. So I feel like I need to take more. But then I wake up, and I'm fine, a little tired hung over feeling for maybe all of ten minutes. But then a couple hours later I'm ready to go back to bed and nap. So then I don't sleep even after taking seroquel until 4 am or so. Do you think that I just should take the seroquel earlier than I do? Or any suggestions?

When I was on Seroquel, my doctor told me to take it an hour before bed, but I found I needed to take it more like an hour and a half to two hours before, if I wanted to sleep. As for tiredness during the day, this was really bad for me the first time I was on it (at 100mg), but the second time (same dose) my body seemed to adapt and I had no daytime sleepiness at all. Good luck.

I was on 200mg as well as depakote at 1500mg. I used to take it about 20 mins before bed and it really made me drwsy, only stress kept me awake a lot! But I was so so tired the day after and put on so much weight I just had to stop it, even though it was helping with my symptoms.

I started taking it because I was going thru some bad insomnia and my mind was racing and couldn't shut down. My pdoc put me on low dose of 25mg at night but I can't take it during the week as I end up being so hungover sleepy I am unable to function. My job requires me to be really on top of everything and I could not function adequetly after taking this med. I am hoping to get her to switch me to something else and add this to my graveyard of meds that don't work or cause bad side effects. lol

uggggggh groggy city, it can take awhile to get use to that, great for sleep, but gives pill hangover from hell, when extremely manic it's good i think...

I no longer take it. My pdoc said I could just take it on a as needed basis, because the sleepiness hang over effect never lifted.
