Life's Storms

The wind is fierce the sky is gray
The smell of rain is in the air
Brown leaves float like graceful wings
On their winding trip to nowhere

All is quite but for the wind
That rustles Autumn trees
The trees stand tall and stretch their limbs
To feel rain kiss their dying leaves

Then lightning streaks across the sky
The rain pours to the ground
Like a stampede of stallions on a lonely plain
Thunder begins to sound

Then all at once with gentleness
The rain trickles to an end
No lightning flash or thunder's roar
No leaves upon the wind

Storms of life will surely come
Fear not they will not stay
For just as quickly as they appear
They too shall fade away

Wow! I love this, thanks so much for sharing! Your description of the thunder as a stampede of stallions-nice imagery!!

Nice piece. I really liked this:

"No lightning flash or thunder's roar
    No leaves upon the wind"
