Inspite of what this article says and inspite of the efforts of all her detractors up here and the talking heads who trash her day in and day out Sarah still has a very high rating, higher then any of the men in this presidental race and still one of the highest ratings of any elected offical in the state.
No one has ever said Sarah speaks for all Alaskans, even those who love her dearly find things to disagree with her on. In Alaska the independent voters out number republican and democrates when they are combined and she still holds a high rating. I'd like to see any of the other candidates go through the 24/7 ragging she's getting up here and keep their stats so high.

'Alaska Women Reject Palin' Rally is HUGE!
14 09 2008
I attended the Welcome Home rally for Sarah Palin this morning. Hooo. It was an experience. About a thousand (maybe) hard-core Palin supporters showed up to hear her speak at the new Dena'ina Convention Center in downtown Anchorage.
After shaking it off with a good double shot of espresso, and a brisk walk back to my car, it was time to head to the Alaska Women Reject Palin rally. It was to be held outside on the lawn in front of the Loussac Library in midtown Anchorage. Home made signs were encouraged, and the idea was to make a statement that Sarah Palin does not speak for all Alaska women, or men. I had no idea what to expect.
The rally was organized by a small group of women, talking over coffee. It made me wonder what other things have started with small groups of women talking over coffee. Itâ??s probably an impressive list. These women hatched the plan, printed up flyers, posted them around town, and sent notices to local media outlets. One of those media outlets was KBYR radio, home of Eddie Burke, a long-time uber-conservative Anchorage talk show host. Turns out that Eddie Burke not only announced the rally, but called the people who planned to attend the rally "a bunch of socialist baby-killing maggots", and read the home phone numbers of the organizers aloud over the air, urging listeners to call and tell them what they thought. The women, of course, received many nasty, harassing and threatening messages.
So, as I jettisoned myself from the jaws of the 'Drill Baby Drill' crowd and toward the mystery rally at the library, I felt a bit apprehensive. I'd been disappointed before by the turnout at other rallies. Basically, in Anchorage, if you can get 25 people to show up at an event, it's a success. So, I thought to myself, if we can actually get 100 people there that arenâ??t sent by Eddie Burke, weâ??ll be doing good. A real statement will have been made. I confess, I still had a mental image of 15 demonstrators surrounded by hundreds of menacing "socialist baby-killing maggot" haters.
It's a good thing I wasn't tailgating when I saw the crowd in front of the library or I would have ended up in somebody's trunk. When I got there, about 20 minutes early, the line of sign wavers stretched the full length of the library grounds, along the edge of the road, 6 or 7 people deep! I could hardly find a place to park. I nabbed one of the last spots in the library lot, and as I got out of the car and started walking, people seemed to join in from every direction, carrying signs.
Never, have I seen anything like it in my 17 and a half years living in Anchorage. The organizers had someone walk the rally with a counter, and they clicked off well over 1400 people (not including the 90 counter-demonstrators). This was the biggest political rally ever, in the history of the state. I was absolutely stunned. The second most amazing thing is how many people honked and gave the thumbs up as they drove by. And even those that didn't honk looked wide-eyed and awe-struck at the huge crowd that was growing by the minute. This just doesn't happen here.
Then, the infamous Eddie Burke showed up. He tried to talk to the media, and was instantly surrounded by a group of 20 people who started shouting O-BA-MA so loud he couldn't be heard. Then passing cars started honking in a rhythmic pattern of 3, like the Obama chant, while the crowd cheered, hooted and waved their signs high.
So, if you've been doing the mathâ?¦ Yes. The Alaska Women Reject Palin rally was significantly bigger than Palin's rally that got all the national media coverage! So take heart, sit back, and enjoy the photo gallery. Feel free to spread the pictures around (links are appreciated) to anyone who needs to know that Sarah Palin most definitely does not speak for all Alaskans. The citizens of Alaska, who know her best, have things to say.

I think people in the lower 48 are just getting tired of hearing ABOUT Sarah Palin, and not FROM her If she is so great, let us hear it. -

I agree with LynneC. I want to hear more from Sarah Palin. I want to know more about what she thinks and less about what others think about her. I want to know what she plans to do to help America. My biggest complaint about this election is that everyone keeps talking about race and sex. I dont care if the next president is a man, a woman, a black person, a white person, or heck a green person for that matter. I just want someone who is going to make America better for EVERYONE. Not just the rich, or the big business owner or the people with deep pockets. I want someone who cares about the middle class family who is suffering in this economy and cant pay their morgage. I want someone who cares about the college student drowning in student loans because the cost of education is so high. I want someone who cares about the 5 year old girl who got shot down playing with chalk on the side walk because there are too many guns on the streets. I know that no candidate can fix all of these problems over night, or make them completely go away, but I want someone who is willing to TRY! So yes I'm sick of people harping on Palin. I dont care if she's from Alaska, I dont care that her daughter is pregnant, and I dont care that she has baby with a mental disability. All I care about is what she is going to do about some serious problems we have here in America. If she has ideas on how to make this country a little better for everyone than great..but if she doesnt have a clue or isnt interested in helping the majority of people who are seriously struggeling right now than I'm not voting for her. -

Her religion, experience and views on women's rights all bother me. I have a 13 year-old-daughter and I have already bought her the book Our Bodies Our Selves. When it became public knowledge that Bristol Palin was pregnant my daughter brought it up by saying "can you imagine the whole world knowing you are pregnant". It was an opportunity for me to do some sex education. I told my daughter if it happened to her dad and I would not be taking care of her child. I told her it would be her responsibility. I said if you are going to have sex please let us know and we will get you birth control. I honestly don't think my daughter will have sex anytime soon but I want to be open and honest with her from the start. It is the issue of birth control as well as Sarah Palin's lack of experience that scares me. -

I honestly think we should be insulted that she was chosen as a vice president running mate. It's obvious she was only chosen because she's a woman, they're quintessentially throwing liberals a bone. She's not experienced, she came out of left field; who knew anything about her before she was chosen? It's a plow to keep interest on their side. As has already been suggested, the vice president could turn out to be the president on either side. Can you really imagine Palin as president? What makes her qualified? She was chosen merely to placate feminists and get the swing vote for those who wanted Hilary. I'm sorry but if we want equal treatment, then we can't let them go on thinking that one woman is easily replaced for another. -

Ok, so im a little late to this discussion....
I think Palin is an I D I O T!
I had to change the channel after listening to her speak for about 5min... anything she had to say didn't make any sense. She just rambled dumb crap, winked, and went on to trash the other party. That woman displayed no intellect at all. Seemed like she had no clue what she was talking about.
I think the only reason she got the chance to run for vp was McCain needed a woman b/c of Clinton.
Just my opinion.
I hate politics and I'm not Rep. or Dem.
But, seriously, i was sick of hearing about her then and sick of hearing about her now. Palin should quit her day job (oh, wait she already did resign way before her time HA HA) ... ok, Palin should just stick to being a hockey mom and shut up.
Welcome
