Searched for "Oprah" on DS and found 344 mentions of her! How do the ladies on this group feel about her? I sometimes wonder if Oprah is a member of DS, she could be as one doesn't have to give one's real name or even put a picture up - if you think she is a DS member, who would it be?

Just curious so ladies keep the replies nice even if you don't like what she stands for.

I hope she is on here and wouldn't it be nice to think that she may respond to one of your posts. Maybe this is where she gets some topics for her shows ... you never know!!!

Personally I love Oprah...she really does do alot of good and helps organizations and people...I find her very down to earth and not afraid to show herself not all made up. She came from very humble beginnings and suffered quite a dramatic childhood herself. We never know what kind of celebrities may be here...let's face it alot of them are just like us...need support and are in the same boat as alot of us ordinary folks. If she is a member of DS I hihgly doubt she would use her own name...just for the fact she would want to remain anonymous and be here for her reasons.

I love Oprah too :) I get her magazine each month... and yes she is from humble beginnings and a self-made person. I think she does a lot of good to help others also!

She is def down to earth and does not flaunt her billions.

I don't watch her show everyday... but then I don't watch much TV.. and i will tune in if i'm just channel surfing.

Only 6 replies, where is everybody or has this subject been done before? For myself I am not too sure about Oprah lately, I thought her shows 10 years ago were fantastic but now she seems to me (don't shoot me down here) to be a one woman crusading church and its saviour is Oprah! BUT I feel she has done women all over the world a huge favour by putting our thoughts and feelings out there for all to see. I may not agree with her completely but I reckon she is wonderful!

Oprah has definitely changed the conversation of our culture. She started with very trashy, sensationalized topics. But a long time ago she decided to not be apart of that trash talk show epidemic that she started (arguable Phil Donahue started it, but she took it to new heights).

Since she decided to change the world instead of just going for ratings, she has brought attention to endless issues. She's made people aware of all kinds of abuses and injustices. She's also made personal growth a mainstream movement. She's started a resurgence of reading and passion for books with her book clubs. She has brought our attention to the plights of so many people around the world.

She's human and imperfect, like all of us. But she's accomplished more than most of us can every dream of doing. She's been a major catalyst in our time and a force for good.

I don't watch her show every day. I just tivo the episodes that interest me. However, I have a deep appreciation for what she's done. And as a poor southern black girl who was molested for years and even bore a child at 14 as a result of this ongoing sexual abuse, well, it's unbelievable how much she's done and how far she's come. I'm in awe.

There are days when she gets on my nerves and i just can't watch her especially when she gets preachy and her guest treat her like she's a spiritual leader or something, that really turns me off but most of the time she acts down to earth. nobodys perfect not even oprah. my favorite shows are when Gail is on. you can see there is no phoniness between them. They kind of remind me of Mary Richards and Rhoda from the mary tyler moore show.LOL

Blooming you are so right and that is how I feel about Oprah! I love her shows that are a celebration of women but not the world's saviour. I like seeing Gail and Oprah together, I thought their road trip was so great!
