Decided to have the H1N1 Flu Shot
Posted on 11/05/09, 08:20 pm
I've been on the phone to my Rheumatologist's office asking about the H1N1 flu shot. Since it's not a live vaccine they are suggesting that I consider taking it. Will not commit to actually telling me to have it. But suggest it.
Spoke to the nurse at my Family Doctors office. She also suggests getting it and since I have Lupus I am classified as high risk. SO..... Monday at 1:30pm I will have the shot.
I was also told that after I have it. It will take approx 14 days to take effect. Hopefullly it will be in my system before the 3rd strain of the virus comes.
Another infant died today, 2 months old. Such a shame. Never had the chance. Within 24hrs was gone. Mother thought the child was sleeping till she turned him over and noticed the blue lips.
I pray everything works out alright.
Hugs Nancy

I have already decided not to get the H1N1, but I am getting the regular flu shot. I hope it works for you. God Bless! Jean -

Glad you are getting the shot Nancy. It just isn't worth the risk not getting it. I have had both now and glad I did. I do not understand why so many people are fearful to get it. hugs marilyn -

Hi All,
My daughter is in the health field and works in a nursing home as a therapist. Altho she has asthma and has been told she 'should' get it, both she and a couple of co workers decided NOT to after checking out all the ingredients in it. So I guess this will be one of those 'personal' decisions. I'm not in a high risk category, they can save it for a little one. -

It is the ingredients that keep me from getting any shots...I passed on the vitamin B because it contained aluminum, known to cause altzheimers....I pass on anything synthetic...I've even decided not to get a tetanus booster (my 10 years were up in december).
My method of staying healthy is staying home..my energy is extremely low and it just makes sense at this time for me.
Here's to good health for all.... -

I asked a pharmacist about the shot, they know more then drs when it comes to drugs. Anyway, he said he didnt think ti would be dangerous, he said HE DIDNT THINK IT WOULD WORK. That was his concern. shot not working. -

Hi everyone. I had the H1N1 flu shot today. So far all I have is a sore arm. I guess time will tell.
Just wanted to touch base.
Hugs and love Nancy
