Lord help us, those of us who suffer from this condition! I wrote to Oprah and asked her to please ask Dr. Berman if there is a treatment for this yet. Those of us who have it do not need an explanation of what it is. It presents with many symptoms, the most common of which is the feeling of a blow torch on your coochie. I kid you not. Think fire and gasoline and then think down there.
No one seems to have any idea of what causes it and no one seems to know how to fix it. Women are pretty much on their own to try every remedy under the sun. If you are lucky and it goes away for a while or even luckier and it goes away forever, count your blessings. It will probably come back, though.
This is what I know about it.
It can be brought on by:
SEX
SOAP
DETERGENT
SCENTED OR TREATED BATH TISSUE
TIGHT PANTS OR PRESSURE
Symptoms can include:
Burning
Pain
Itching
Throbbing
Symtoms of a UTI
Some things that MIGHT help:
Rinsing the vulva with water after urinating
Drying the area with low heat hair dryer after bathing
Drinking aloe vera juice
Applying pure aloe vera juice or gel (make SURE there is no alcohol!!!)
Ice pack for severe pain
Grapefruit extract
Goldenseal extract
I am currently trying some products from an Italian company called Zuccari. I do not work for them or have any affilliation with them, but they do make some products that seem to be helpful. One is a gel that is for topical use. It has aloe vera and comfrey and other soothing herbs in it. The other is a wash with similar propeties and they make a cranberry aloe vera juice that is to be diluted with water and taken internally. It also has comfrey and tea tree oil in it.
If anyone would like to know how to order products from them, I will be happy to give you their website.
We need to ask for help from the medical community for this. If men were walking around with flaming testes, I think it would be addressed. Millions of women suffer from this and there is nothing available to us but a blank look from most doctors.
I wish you hope and healing.
Roberta
