Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD) is a condition of throat closure and/or choking sensation. The vocal cords go into a tightening or closing spasm. It can cause sudden, severe episodes of breathing difficulty, persistent coughing, and sometimes wheezing and/or stridor. It can be misdiagnosed as being an asthma attack, anaphylaxis (allergic reaction), or some sort of psychological issue.
