Out of work, looking for a job and not finding one. I have enough money to pay the rent for one more month and then I'm screwed. I get $100.00 a week in unemployment and let me tell you THAT's not enough. I have no family left, a few friends who are too busy with their own lives to keep in touch, one friend who keeps promising to do stuff to help me like get my car fixed up but HE never lives up to his word. I SHOULD be on a prescription for my depression but I can't afford it. Been off it for months now and that is NO help at all. I don't sleep more than 4 hours a night, or day,I eat ONE meal a day. I'm so tired of living like this. I'm tired of doing my laundry in the bathroom sink and the nasty phone calls from bill collectors wanting money I don't have. I'm tired of bashing my head against a wall and getting nowhere. Nothing ever gets any better. It all just gets worse and there's no to turn to for help.
All I've got are my cats and a couple friends here on DS.
Have fun analyzing that for your group. Maybe write an article on how unemployment and poverty drives people to the edge.

I have a friend who was in the situation like this before the bad unemployment. She was saying things that wasn't even her. She was being driven to the edge. She had her bad days and sometimes would be talking to me and all of sudden would get off the phone (due to her depression). I can keep you in my prayers. Do you have any hobbies that are a service of any kind that you can start your own business. If you do any of home businesses it works if you work for yourself not any of these other people. Kris -

I make soaps and candy. But here in CT to be able to SELL any of these things you have to have a professional kitchen and have it inspected by the health dept every month or so. I live in a tiny apartment without any professional equipment so while I can make things and give them away I can't sell them. -

I felt like someone had looked into my head after reading that. I was on disability, because I suffer from cronic pain & without the medication I cannot walk. However the money they were giving me was not enough to live on so I had to go and get a security job, with both income's together I was still managing things below the poverty level. Food is something I just do not include in my monthly statements. However, wouldn't you know since I took on a little 8 dollar an hour job, I'm considered as no longer disabled. So they took the whole check from me, I told them without the insurance I'd be right back where I started from, unable to see the doctor, unable to get the meds. which means I would end up right back on my back. They didn't care, they told me if you can pay for the insurance you can keep it, if not they would take that too. Is there no help for the weary? This is not living. -

Yeah I do understand. If I wasn't sharing the rent with my roomate at his place I would be on the street. I am on disability and a very fixed low disability. I am trying to get approved someday for social security. I get paid once a month and am broke by the 10th after I pay my bills and medications. If I didn't have the Veterans Administration's benifits from my service in the Army I wouldn't be able to receive my medications and PHY DR.
