HRT

Am 59 and have been taking HRT since an early menopause at 39. Predictably GP is making loud noises about taking me off this medication. As I still remember how lousy I felt for the 3-4 years perimenopause and how I got my life back immediately I started on the HRT, I do not want to stop taking it, despite being up to speed with all the latest risk analyses. I feel my quality of life would take a nosedive and I don't even want to take the risk of going down that route even though the doctor is adamant thatif I get symptoms, I can go back on the medication at least for a while. Would love to hear from anyone in a similar position, especially any comments about whether or not the GP can just cease prescribing, even against my will. The main sticking point for her appears to be the fear of litigation in the event of me developing an HRT related disease. Is there no binding form of agreement that I can sign that will allow me to exercise my right to self determination while protecting the GP from the possibility of litigation? I note that, in the US ,where the fear of litigation is much greater, there are numbers ofwomen who have been taking HRT for many years, even into their 90's, so they must have found a solution to the problem there.
