I'm new to this group, too.
I'm 52 and live in the East Midlands - Nottinghamshire, to be precise.
I'm married, have two sons and two step-daughters.
I'm housebpound by a spinal disorder that causes me constant, chronic pain, making it impossible for me to walk more than a few yards.
I recently had my application for the Disability Living Allowance turned down and am in the process of appealing.
There don't seem to many UK users of this site, so it's nice to be able to make contact.
Where in the SW do you live?

I am new to this group and just wanted to say hi. I live in the South West of England. I am a mother of two wonderful boys. My husband is working away from home at the moment so just looking for people here in the UK to chat to.

Hi Mixi
Nice to meet you. I live in Bristol. Been here for about 11 years now.
Sorry to hear you have been turned down for disability living allowance. I get incapacity benefit and it is an absolute godsend so I hope you win your appeal.
I have been off work for a year now so my work are not willing to support me beyond this. Which is probabily a good thing. I think a need a change in direction.
It is beautiful weather here today and I need to get out and enjoy it before it disappears again. lol

The weather's been nice here, too, but I've been stuck indoors as usual.
I never get out unless my husband's off work with the car.
I have a reassessment of need scheduled for Thursday morning. I hope it will add weight to my appeal.
Your name, Highland Rose, intrigues me. Are you Scottish?
My maternal grandmother was from Edinburgh originally.
Have you made contact with anyone else from the UK group yet? -

Hello, Rose.
I'm not familiar with your part of Scotland. I passed through Glasgow but once, in the dark, in a taxi going to catch a train to Oban. Thence onto the ferry for South Uist.
I'm more fasmiliar with the Lothians and Perthshire.
Had a nice Mothering Sunday.
Hubby cooked dinner, then took me off to Tesco & Asda in search of a birthday present for my sister-in-law.
I'm getting used to being pushed around supermarkets in a wheelchair, though I hated it the first time. It felt that I'd sacrificed another little bit of life as knew it.
Younger son gave me a lovely card and some gorgeous flowers.
Elder son phoned. He had to work today, but is bringing my card and present on Tuesday.
Hello, Di!
Glad to meet you.
Sounds as though you're kept busy!
By the way, my real name is Margaret. -

Glad to hear you had a nice mothers day. I celebrated mothers day on the Friday as my husband left on a business trip that day so I got my flowers early. Actually I still have them over a week later, they have lasted well. I also got a DVD but I have watched that. Waiting until the boys were in bed, put the DVD on and put my feet up..bliss
Di, oh my goodness....your house must never be quiet. My house is never quiet and I only have two kids...well three when hubby it as home!!!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
Welcome
