My dysfunctional family has driven my life into the ground!

I spend alot of time crying and depressed cause I have no real family that cares, they are all mean and selfish and make fun of me for being sick. They are so verbally abusive, it hurts, especially on the days where I am literally fighting for my life and my dad is smoking crack, making jokes about me being a hypochondriac when I have serious health conditions. It just hurts, my dad is an ex-convict for mafia type stuff, and he has never even come to visit me or his granddaughter and is more concerned about partying and saying i am the one who is messed up. It's like he says I am doing everything he is doing? Totally psycho! what kind of dad partys at 62 years old and forget his daughter and granddaughter when we need him?

I'm so sorry. This is very sad. My father never changed and never apologized. His "jokes" are probably all about manipulation and control. Your only recourse may be to let him grow old and die alone. -

I know how you feel.....
My own father, after I'd forgiven him by phone, has dumped on me again by not keeping his promise to come up and see me after he retired. He's fishing, I hear, good for him! Its his life now, and if he doesnt want me in it, I have to deal, just as any parent has to go through empty nest syndrome......his loss....he's just a chicken pooper, afraid that if he comes up here to see his grankids, my vindictive mother is going to get him for back child support, he may have a point, but he will face his own demons alone now......
Dont worry about your father, focus on healing yourself, that is most important now & give yourself time to adjust, some of us are better off alone, yet you have all of us to talk to on here! We wont desert you! -
