Vocational expert at hearing?
Posted on 11/08/09, 12:58 pm
Hey all!
I just had my hearing, and the vocational expert was asked "hypothetically" if someone like me could go back to what I was doing, she said no, then was asked if they could do any work, she said no. My lawyer said this was good...The ALJ really didn't ask what any of the Drs said, or anything like that...in your experience should the VEs testimony in my favor be enough? It's my first hearing, and I've been waiting 3 years.

I don't know if it will b enough, but I do know from all I have heard it is a very good sign. Usually they tell u that there is something else u can do, so it sounds like u may have just gotten your approval! congrats on the good hearing:) -

That's what I heard, I was just nervous b.c there was NO mention ZERO or my Drs or their Drs...but I guess the VE saying that I can do no work is good. -

I would think that is very good for your case. Usually, they will say you can at least answer a phone somewhere and that alone can throw your case out. Sounds goofy but it is true.
Please let us know what you hear back. I understand that they have to give a good bit of weight to the Voc. Rehab person and that is why they have them in the hearing. -

I'll let you know, thanks. I was expecting the hearing to be much longer, it only lasted 15-20 mins. And the VE was really the only person that spoke...the ALJ asked me a few questions but didn't even ask about my daily routine or pain... -
