I need a question answered...

Hi! Just joined the group. As of Jan. 1st I have gone about 80% (from about 20%) green. I am struggling ( a little bit) with the switch in personal products...from commercial, popular, brand-named shampoos, etc. to natural, vegan, non-toxic products. Can someone tell me if these products have the same cleaning abilities as the toxic ones? Is it all in my mind that I don't feel as "washed"? I need help. I won't back down, but I need to know it's all in my mind...

I wouldn't know I'm sorry. I live in Canada and we just came out with a "Green" line that cleans the same as toxic ones but is green. Hopefully someone else will know what brands you have. -

I use Avalon Organics mostly, but recently began to branch out a bit. I find that most of them are just as good as the toxic ones, and you are absorbing fewer chemicals through your skin, which, to my mind, makes them even cleaner! The only problem I have encountered is that organic bleach just does not get my socks as white. But other than that, I have had absolutley no problems with any of the green options I have tried. -

I felt the same way when I first started using natural products, once you start doing it you'll forget about "not feeling clean" and it will be just like your old products. I used toms of Maine for soap. Then for shampoo and liquid body soap I use Dr. Bronners all in one shikakai soap. I recommend for you Giovanni organic products, they have a whole line of everything you could possibly need to have great hair and are good for the environment. -

Thanks to all for the input! KatDC, you are absolutely right! Now, I'm to the point where I wouldn't buy anything else! I am also going to give these natural products as gifts from now on. Might as well "share the love", right? -

i've had Aveda products used on me when visiting the spa, they have a great selection and everything smells amazing. they are truly a remarkable eco-company; from the all-natural ingredients, to responsible packaging and they even have a vested interest in renewable energy.

oh and as far as home-care products, i am currently switching to Norwex. i'm a housekeeper and am sick of using chemicals in my client's homes as well as my own. after using the Norwex anti-bac cloths in a client's home for 1 day i was convinced that i didn't need a chemical cleaner to get the job done. no shit, it even got the grease & marks off of a glass cooktop (the vileda scrunge was a total dissappointment), i could hardly believe it. the toilet bowl cleaner smells delicious (did i just say that?) and the window cloth is damn near a miracle, you just need water. i'm ordering my products from a family member who lives in saskatchewan, canada but you can request a catalogue and find a rep near you at http://www.norwex.com
