...but it's nice to get paid too. At the rate promised. And get full time. And benefits. Am I asking too much? Because I'm not getting any of it, and it's really clouding my happiness.

Oh no, it's fulfilling. I love what I do. I'd just like to get a decent paycheck and benefits to go with it. If I had a trust fund and a silver spoon, I'd gladly do this for free. But I don't, so I would like to get paid for it. I'm being undercut on the going pay for nurses, I have no benefits, and I am still not full time. It took me five months to learn that in my area, NO ONE hires graduate nurses/new grads. I was lucky to get this job. I've come to terms with the fact that I won't be able to get into a hospital for a year. But in the meantime, I want decent pay and benefits. -

its great that you love what you do. i'm in a place where not only do i not love what i do but i'm prob going to be out of a job soon. so i'm trying to find a new career. nursing is hard work all around. i'm looking into associate degrees at schools that are affiliated with a strong hospital network. do you get your RN with an associate degree or a BNS?

I'm sorry to hear that. =( I don't know what your situation is but have you considered relocating? I know a girl who graduated from an RN program about 6 months ago. She couldn't find anything here in the Twin Cities that she wanted but she got a job offer out of state. She ended up taking the job they even paid her to relocate. She had to sign something saying she would stay at the hospital for a year but I know she has a good salary and benefits. Just an idea..
