Reward Yourself

Something that really helped when I was in IP was the timing of their privileges. It seemed that every scary weight marker was met with an increase in privileges and freedom.
When you got to W weight, you were allowed to go outside when it was scheduled.
When you got to X weight, you were allowed to go on monthly outings.
When you got to Y weight, you were allowed to go on weekly outings.
When you got to Z weight, you were allowed to exercise lightly.
etc.
For those who are struggling with maintaining their weight, gaining, or stopping behaviors, set up rewards for yourself as well as goals. Many time people will give themselves rewards for getting to an unhealthy weight. Use the same idea to help yourself get healthier.
Once you get to X weight, treat yourself to something, a movie or a massage for example.
When you go X days without engaging in an ED behavior, treat yourself to something.
Obviously, these rewards shouldn't trigger your ED in any way.
I don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but wanted to put it out there.

That's something else we worked on in IP. There was a "spa day" where we were supposed to pamper ourselves (do nails, use lotions, etc.) and a lot of people struggled with it because they didn't feel deserving. It takes time and you DO deserve things. -

I know exactly where you are coming from sophie. I was also in a program and it was set up exactly like that! At the time, it did not work, because i wasn't ready to recover, i wasnt ready to let it all go... but now that i am making tons of steps toward recovery...little at a time, and baby steps, it becomes easier to pamper yourself... and even in our darkest hour.... a little "me" time is needed. Rewarding yourself when you have reached a victory, even a small one, is a great thing.. because we ALL DESERVE A LITTLE LOVIN!
