How To Get Motivation

Motivation
I have heard so many talk about not having any motivation. What does motivation mean to you? It could mean energy, or focus, or desire, or all of these. In order to reach your goal of successful weight loss you most have the energy to stay focused and the desire to reach your goal. But the one thing that most people donâ??t realize is that your thoughts create your primary energy for any given day. If your thoughts are mostly negative about yourself, you will not be able to have the energy, focus, or desire to reach your weight goals. Also some people believe by tearing themselves apart this will create in them the push to become motivated. Actually the opposite is true. The more you tear yourself apart the more you stay stuck in negative thinking, better known as stinkin thinking. Now you can change your thoughts just by making a conscious effect to do so. When you have a negative thought about yourself, reframe it to a positive one. In the beginning you might resist this but keep at it, after awhile you will feel your energy change. Once you feel your energy change then you will not only have motivation, you will succeed in reaching your goal once you give your stinkin thinking the boot.

Just came back to daily strength today after a couple of months. Your message not only applies to my weight loss journey but my relationship with my daughter and her husband who live with us. They are both unemployed 20 somethings with four kids 7,5,2, and 4 months and they both drive me crazy with their immaturity. I needed the reminder about the negative focus, tend to do too much of that. On the positive side, I just talked to my doctor about diet pills. She is going to help me with a very closely monitored program for 6 months. Includes a 1200 calorie program, journaling food intake, and monthly visits. Maybe this will be the jump start and accountability I need to work on a 100lb weight loss. She did this herself and is now helping her patients and she is changing lives.Thanks for the attitude adjustment, I needed it today. -

You are so correct...of course!!! Sometimes it is easier to have negative thoughts then to dig deep and think the good thoughts. But once you can find the positives in our lives it becomes easier and easier and stress is reduced to a minimum. I have done this and now negative thought just don't come into play. I am happier and life is much better. -

I had none until I read this. It's getting warmer and I am havineg a hard time getting off my butt and I feel awful about myself. You're right, thats the problem. I will tell myself the good and I actually feel the beginnings of something...thanks! -

This was what my hubby and I had n arguement about this morning. In the end he saw my point.
If you say something negative it ruins the likelihood of sucedding. Ypu have already visualized you failing...the likelihood of suceeding after visualizing failure is not real likely. More unlikely to benefit you in any way.
Years ago I lost weight all in 2 months got in shape by having a pixs that I HATED OF ME! EATING OF ALL THINGS IN A SHIRT I HAD NO IDEA WAS TOO SMALL FOR ME!
I looked at that pixs everyday alot! Even showed it to other people. So I lost out of shame. Gained all of it back like 5 yrs later when I got depressed all those thoughts came back to rip me into shreds.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT!
I gained more in that 20 yrs after that than I care to admit. I was almost 300 lbs. Now 10 yrs later after starting to steadily increase my desire as I lose more to get active and more active untill I feel good! And slimmer.
I now weigh in the neighborhood of 215. My new goal is 190 by the end of tax time or sooner I hope.

It is so much easier to just give up and let the negative thoughts win, but we are all better then that. After all we are WOMAN hear of ROAR!!! Don't let any negative thoughts you entertain get in your way---just believe the opposite and know the opposite is the TRUTH. It seems so many feel bad about themselves just because of the negative they choose to believe and hang unto. Let it go--refuse to accept it as your truth and you will feel a BIG change start to happen from deep inside you. This is your power of choice emerging--this is you coming alive :) -

Motivation means for me ; when I finally get sick and tired of being sick and tired and CHOOSE that I know I can and I am worth making the CHOICE to admitt I can stop being sick and tired and ask for help.
When we get down the basics it is the awareness that yesterdays and tomorrows are out of our control anymore. All we have is the "todays" of 24/7 and that is the reality for me to get motivated and take ONE DAY AT A TIME......
