The Senerity Prayer

I don't know if it is just me but I think part of the problem is that I have a feeling that there are always lots of things that I should be doing but I am not.
This has a paralising effect on me and often I don't end up doing the obvious things that I can do because I spend so much time being worried about all the other stuff that I might have to do.
Maybe the answer is in the Senerity Prayer
'Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.'
Maybe the answer is the last line. That I should relax for a moment and not just make a list of things to do but really think about which things in that list will really make a difference.
Does this mean that many things I actually end up doing would not have changed anything and resulted in me not doing things that really would have helped me.
I know for a fact that I have spent long hours procrastinating over things that in the end I didn't have to do anyway.
A nasty habit I have is procrastinating about reading my e-mails on the basis that I might not like what I read. When finally I do read my
e-mails, there is nothing bad but in the meantime I paralised my mind from thinking properly and ended up forgetting to do stuff that needed to be done.
So here is the Senerity Prayer modified for procrastinators.

'Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
And when I have figured out the things I can change,
give me the courage to get them done now.'

you know something Simon - there is wisdom in those words. When I was regularly attending meetings that relied on the serenity prayer for their sanity - I did not procrastinate. Hmmm - I need to go back to meetings.
