I'm a major procratinator.
I don't know why, but I think It's a fear/depression/anxiety combo.
I paid an art agent 2 years ago to post my work online. The unsigned contract & all the pics of my work are still sitting here!
I could be making $$$ with something I love.
I do this with almost everything, and I hope to get better.
I'm so glad this group is here.
Love..xo

Hi Janis, nice to meet you.
I know how you feel.
It seems like this procrastination thing doesn't affect us only on things we dislike, but things we love like you stated. That is what upsets me sometimes, that I sabotage my success at things. -

I think procrastination has everything to do with fear. Fear of how something will turn out often times. I just know I feel paralyzed - and that is when I procrastinate - I didn't even want to type procrastinate - it felt overwhelming....... -

Linda,
I have come to the conclusion that procrastination is a combination of fear and simply not wanting to do things. I am writing this now because I do not want to do something else ha ha.
In the normal course of events (as was) what would happen was that because I had not done the thing I would feel greater fear because there was less time to do it so I would avoid doing it even more.
Now however I have virtually no fear of anything. The result will be that even though I procrastinate it will not become paralysing and I will still move through getting things done.
Even if there are some things that don't get done and there are some consequences it won't bother me much. I see that my procrastinating will just start dropping off over time.
Moonstar you are right there is an aspect of fear of success because when you succeed you feel peoples expectations of you are higher and you are more likely to be seen as failing when you don't suceed at something in the future.
I have no problem with this because I am no longer bothered about peoples expectations of me and do not place expectations on myself, this will leave me free to succeed.
Welcome
