what do you feed timber?? it may very well be a food allergy? skin allergies are usually related to diet and if you are feeding her food wich contains wheat or corn you should try changing her diet.
you could try a holistic feed
for the anxiety one of my dogs (my eldest) is very nervy with strangers she is 7 now and hasnt changed but i constantly work on a positive approach with her rather than drugs as i dont want to be pumping things through her that arnt nessaacery.
if timers anxieties are really affecting her health i would recommned a herbal remedy. you could google it online just check reviews to see if vets recommend it and speak to your vet for advise. good luck

Need help/opinions about pet meds

Aside from being a nervous nelly at times, my Timber has severe skin allergies. She has special shampoo, treats and food to help her condition.
Here's my problem. She's through with her antibiotics so I held back giving her anything today because her little personality was disappearing from taking the prednisone (which she can't take much longer anyway) and the Doxepin.
The Doxepin is both an antihistamine and an anti-anxiety medication because, being a yorkie, Timber tends to be a nervous little thing at times. It's just her nature so the doctor thought this might be the best medicine to combat both problems.
Problem is, the Doxepin - like I said - is zapping her spirit and I don't want to do that to her.
However, she squealed out earlier and I looked over at her. She was trying to reach an itchy spot on her hip again so, obviously, this is a problem that is going to need a medication every day. At least for a while.
If your dog/cat has experienced allergy problems such as this and/or anxiety issues, what medicine has worked best for your little one(s)? I would REALLY appreciate the input because I am going to call the vet tomorrow morning and talk about changing her every day allergy/anxiety med.
Just so you know, the Doxepin is in the triptyline family of drugs. If you've ever taken Flexeril or Amitriptyline, this is very similar. It just zonks her out and zaps her vibrant spirit.
So please let me know what has worked for your pets regarding allergy meds and/or anxiety meds. I would REALLY appreciate it.
*hugs*

I feed her exactly what the vet told me to (he's a great vet with a sincere love for animals). We buy her food, treats and shampoo at the vet and they are all directed in keeping her whole lifestyle as allergy-free as possible. This is what she has:
IAMS Vet Formula - Skin & Coat
Royal Canin Treats for Dogs - Tartar Control, Low Fat with Anti-Oxidants and Omega 3 Fatty Acids
RXV Chloradine 4% Shampoo
Thanks for the heads-up about finding something holistic for her as I hadn't even thought about it in that way. I'll do some research and see what I come up with. -
