Loosing the last 20lbs!! HELP....

Posted on 10/18/09, 08:05 pm
Seems like the last 20lbs are the hardest! I need help in discussing with other post-op gastric bypass patients who are 5+ years out from surgery, have done to kick-start and loose their remaining pounds.

I have successfully used this Gastric bypass " tool" along with behavior modification and exercise. I have lost 150lbs since my surgery in August 2002 & maintained it in 7yrs. I exercise, drink my 64 ounces (80% of the time) water, stick to only 2 to 3 healthy small meals and limit my snacking (most of the time).

I noticed I'm able to eat more, "IF" I allow myself to as well as snacking around mealtimes which have caused me to gain and loose the same 4 to 5lbs on the scale. I can eat sugar in moderation without dumping. I avoid white potatoes, rice, pasta and breads and will indulge if I'm out at a dinner party. My diet mainly consists of; 50% lean proteins, veggies, fruit, lowfat crackers, lowfat mozzarella cheese, turkey jerky.

I would love to hear from those who are being challenged with the same and how you were able to loose the remainder of your weight of 20lbs....

Thanks so much!

I am at the same crossroads. I still have another 20 to lose as well. I am two years out and so far have lost 134 lbs. Like you, I follow my diet to a "T". I am to afraid of gaining back any weight to deviate from it at all.

I am seriously thinking of visiting my nutritionist that I had back in the beginning of all of this to see what suggestions she might have to jump start plautau that I find myself on. I exercise daily, which I love doing because I wasn't able to do that before surgery. It is discouraging when that last twenty pounds just won't come off and those scales just won't budge!!!
