My Beloved Gizzy
Posted on 10/28/09, 06:32 pm
I have to put my cat to sleep tomorrow, she has cancer. She has been with my family for almost 13 years. My heart is breaking and I haven't been able to eat or sleep much in the past few days. I don't know how I am gonna get through this. The vet said she could have the cancer removed, but there is no way of knowing if it will come back or if she will have complications. I don't want her to have pain, or suffer. I feel so guilty. Stacey

Prayers for you, Stacey. You are doing what Gizzy would want you to do.She loves and trusts you. If her purr-fect quality of life is reduced then you do what you know is right. She understands. We lost our Rusty on Monday afternoon but he made the choice, gratefully. He was a joy and gift for 19 years just like your Gizzy for 13years. They will all cross Rainbow Bridge. There is a wonderful website: www.fondpetmemories.com with beautiful poems and tons of comfort. You and Gizzy are in our thoughts as you make this journey. xxoo -

Stacey, you are doing the right thing. Gizzy will feel like she is getting the best sleep of her life, and will not have to go through any more pain if she is having it. It is so hard for us, left behind. I am still trying to get a dog that will never replace Rainey, but will work for Sage, who is almost 10, and Rainey was her best friend, but also one that I can bond with. You have my prayers. raindrop -

Thank you both for your prayers. It has been a rough 2 weeks. I am starting to feel a little better, but I miss her so much! I sometimes think I see her walking by, or hear her meow. Is that a little crazy? I pray for everyone that has to go through this. Thanks again. Stacey -

bonjovimom, no..it is not crazy at all. I think they leave, at the very least, some residual energy. I experienced the same type things and still do sometimes since my Baby Sky (my kitty boy) died. Losing our pet children, however it happens is devestating. It takes time to accept. I know I ahd to get a kitten ASAP. I knew I could not replace Sky but my now cat Raine is a great boy and makes my heart glad...and puts life back into the house, fills that void for me. Love, Susan
P.S. Here is another site where you can make a memorial tribute for your Gizzy if inclined. Here is mine for Baby Sky :

This group is for everyone that has the love of animals. If you have lost a pet or have a pet that is sick then you are at the right place. We also will be discussing day to day problems that we run into with our little ones, helping each other to work through them and find the answer. This soon will be also a meeting place for all Ordained Chaplains of Pets/Animals to discuss all phases of their ministry.
