Keppra questions... Please help!

Hi! My son has been on Keppra since he was 11 months old. He just turned two years old this November and I am pretty sure his dose is waaaay too high for his size. He is 23 lbs, and small for his age and under the curve. He takes 7ml of liquid keppra twice a day which is equivalent to 1400 mg of keppra in pill form. The pharmacy even called because they were surprised at such a large dose for someone so young. I think it is excessive for his age and size. He is very wobbly when he walks and developmentally & speech delayed. I know some of this could very well be a side effects since it is so high. Also I think it is affecting his thyroid as it was borderline hypothyroid a few months ago. Has anyone else heard of such a high dose for small children? I am soooo worried. Please help!

  Ye si have. you see i have a 7 year old boy that has Epilepsy since he was 13 and half months old.. Ppor thing has been through 3 different meds Colbazam, tygertol, and keppera.. We has difficulty with his attitudes, mood swings, tiredness, and not to to mention sleep. But noweveryhitng is ok the epidoses have slowed down and now he is only on Keppera. How is your childs seizures been? I think until the Seizuers are controlled thats when the meds will slowly decrease.. Its not a good idea just to quit it has to be weaned off.. Also your the parent and you everry righ to tell the doctor how you feel and whats best for your child... Good Luck..
