This group is for any parent of a child who has been abused so they may find comfort as well as advice and answers to their many thoughts and feelings.
Hi, Ive just joined this website and group. I feel the need to share this and am hoping for support.
I dont know how much help I can be to anyone else but I do know alot more about the social workers and the procedures for dealing with a case such as this in Ireland and would like to get feedback on how others are dealing with the situation and personal and family conflict.
We found out his year that my daughter was being abused by my father.
I must admit I have found the whole thing a struggle, I know some may say its selfish to say but we have done everything possible for our daughter and have supported her right from the beginning and will continue to support her, to be there when she wants us.
Dad was always so good to us, he brought us up to be well mannered and strong, honest, proud. There was never any hint of abuse in our family, we were always well looked after. He was the most honest person I knew.
Our daughter is seven, when she told us we were completely floored. We looked for advise, all the while trying to avoid family. It has been a nightmare. We decided to go ahead with an assessment process that involved a specialist interviewing our daughter over a number of sessions to try and find out if her story was true. A report was compiled, by a large group of child psychologists who reviewed the interview transcripts and video and they have found her account of the abuse to be true.
Now, I feel I have my own brothers and sisters to convince, along with my mother who says the whole thing is completely ridiculous.
All the while I have been wishing and hoping to wake up from this nightmare - I have so many happy, warm memories of my father, now I fell I will never meet him again after what he did. My own family come first I know, I will be there for them, but every day that passes I feel my mother and siblings are slipping further away.
I heard a lovely quote the other day, it went, âTo know the road ahead, ask those coming backâ. That's why I am here, I guess I'd like to hear from others a similar story and get advice.

A Person Experiencing Grief or Loss
Father, in the name of Jesus, I approach Your throne of grace, bringing __________ before You. I recognize that grieving is a human emotional process, and I give him/her the space that he/she needs to enter into the rest that You have for him/her.
Lord, Jesus bore ___________’s griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses and distresses) and carried his/her sorrows and pains; I know that Your Spirit is upon Jesus to bind up and heal __________’s broken heart. May he/she be gentle with himself/herself, knowing that he/she is not alone in his/her grief. You are with him/her, and You will never leave him/her without support.
Father, I desire to be a doer of Your Word, and not a hearer only. Therefore, I make a commitment to rejoice with those who rejoice [sharing others’ joy], and to weep with those who weep [sharing others’ grief]. I pray that my love will give _______________ great joy and comfort and encouragement, because he/she has refreshed the hearts of Your people.
Thank You, Father, for sending the Holy Spirit to comfort, counsel, help, intercede for, defend, strengthen and stand by _________________ in this time of grief and sorrow.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
